Sangam

14th May 2016, Saturday

SANGAM turned out to be a most wonderful evening of music and dance, as Gyaan Adab went house-full that evening. The programme was in aid of drought-prone villages in Maharashtra. It began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guests, followed by them addressing the audience about the evening. The scintillating evening was brought alive with youthful energy as Kathak and Bharatnatyam dancers along with vocalists lifted people into pure joy…all for a cause.

The brilliant young performers for the evening were Kathak dancers  Gargi Datar– winner of the prestigious Pt. Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Award,  Moushami Jaju – who has won awards  and accolades at various public venues and the accomplished Anushka Banerjee;  Bharatnatyam dancers Pinakini Dawra  and Rutuja– who have sparkled at various campus and cultural venues;  vocalists Tushar Deshpande – who has acted in nearly 30 shows of the famous Marathi musical, Katyar Kaljat Ghusli… and of course, the gifted and versatile Renuka Kale the youngest singer on Pune Idol, she reached the top 11.

The evening was in aid of Project Oasis – a Jal Daan initiative by Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA). The Pune Youth4change volunteers are currently involved in Project Oasis in order to help drought prone villages in Maharashtra. The youth plan to presently help with distributing water and later will continue interaction further through activities like water harvesting and working with youth in the three villages of Randulabad, Sulshi and Pimpude. For this initiative, they have planned various fund raising activities and they welcome contributions for the same.
