HARMONY IN HARMONICA

The melodies of evergreen songs evoked nostalgia and took the audience on a trip down memory lane when (Veteran) Wing Commander Anup Banerjee played familiar tunes with his harmonica for an evening of perennial classics. He played both English and Hindi ‘Golden Oldies’ from the Sixties to the Nineties; songs that had a foot-tapping beat and memorable melodies. For the first half of the program he was accompanied by Purbu Rindol, a jawan from the paraplegic rehabilitation centre who has lost his limbs fighting for the country. His fighting spirit was evident in his rendition of the songs of hope and joy he performed. The program was in the memory of soldiers who had lost their lives and was dedicated to the gallantry and valor of the armed forces and the soldiers who had suffered from a loss when at war.

The repertoire featured popular songs of Kishore Kumar, Mohammad Rafi, and English Classics like Que Sera Sera and some songs of Beatles and Bob Dylan.
