Devrai Art Village showcased their unique art in an exhibition at Gyaan Adab. The dhokra art pieces displayed were created by artisans with a contemporary twist. Rock dhokra and pot dhokra, molten metal murals and organic casting – all the artifacts have a distinctive creation process.

Devrai Art Village is an NGO that works towards sustaining adivasi art, culture, and a way of life that is fast disappearing. They create a space where modern design ideas can be incorporated into indigenous arts and crafts, creating quality artifacts truly Indian in spirit but universal in appeal.

Distinctive wall hangings and Indian puppets, showpieces of different animals and real leaves cast in a metal mold were some of the original works of art exhibited. At the entrance, a statement piece created from a real tree greeted the visitors. There was also a screening of a short film that explained the evolution of Dhokra art and the Devrai Art Village. Visitors gathered to see a demonstration of the process and to understand the uniqueness of contemporary dhokra art.
