The 13th Pune Poetry Slam was held at Gyaan Adab Centre Pune on Sunday. Thirty Four Poets performed their poems and 93 People were present as audience making it the largest Slam Ever for Pune Poetry Slam.
A poetry slam is a competitive event where poets performs their poems to a live audience and are judged on content and performance. Many poets recited in Hindi also.
The response of the event was such that Pune Poetry Slam is planning to hold more events across the city in various locations to cultivate close knit communities of poets to further popularise the art of spoken word and provide a venue for poets to express themselves.
Dogendra, Manasi Nene, Hamid, Priyanka Menon and Sudarshan were the top five poets of the evening. The event was organised by Pune Poetry Slam volunteers and with the venue provided by Gyan Adab
The sense of community was rounded off by the open mic where, the band “Chutzpah” performed with the poets mixing live music with spoken word poetry to get the crowd on their feet.
The participants and audience expressed satisfaction with Gyan Adab Centre as a venue and were in full praise of its organisers for providing such a vibrant atmosphere conducive to literature.
