Gyaan Adab presented Salon – An evening of original Hindi music featuring singer-songwriter Deepak Peace, on the 24th of November.
Deepak Peace, a home-grown artist, is accompanied by his harmonica and guitar while he creates songs seeped in satire. His debut album ‘Aaj Ke Naam’ was released in 2017 and received rave reviews from RockStreet Journal, Rolling Stone India and Deccan Chronicle. His songs speak of changing times, our never-ending struggles, of the free spirit in humans, and of course, love.

The evening of the 24th yielded a small but intimate gathering that surrounded Deepak as he and his companion singer played their set, each song more explosive than the one that preceded it. Dim lighting and fairy lights strewn across the room lended a sublime atmosphere to the gathering.
Deepak’s writing style characterizes his songs to have fun but critical and hard hitting messages, backed up by an addictive instrumental.

Deepak’s music touches upon various subjects like poaching of animals, encroaching on animal sanctuaries, the right-wing policies of government, and social prejudice in a humorous format.
While he played various tracks, the most memorable were ‘Mere Bacche’, ‘Political Pyaar’ and ‘Munna the Tiger’, which had the attendees singing in tandem with Deepak.

The smiles on the faces of the attendees as they departed from Gyaan Adab was testament to Deepak’s performance.
