Day 1

The experience of rain filled with romance, nostalgia and the spirit of longing presented by three talented young performers who merge the classical and traditional into unforgettable moments of magic.

There was present a wonderful cascade of torrential music by Mamta Padhy- ranging from classical to semi classical- traditional to contemporary in different styles from Bharatnatyam dance by Anuja Bathe to the enigmatic tabla solo by the talented Sudhir Kale.

Day 2

Kala Ramesh’s scholarly explanation of Haiku poetry, her reading of some excerpts from her cryptic, enigmatic Haiku, Tanka and Haibun poems interspersed with the divinely melodious musical interludes from Pandit Kumar Gandharv’s Geet Varsha heightened the ecstatic atmosphere of the monsoon mood.

The concluding part of the evening was a soulful performance by mother daughter duo Shyamala Joshi and Kashmira Joshi Sarnobat. The magic of monsoon was brought out efficiently with some compositions in the raga malhar followed by a nirguni Kabir bhajan and bhairavi.

In the end, the wet ground smelling of the fragrant earth was witness to the fact that the Rain God was also  pleased with these performances .
