January’s edition of Guldasta-e-Urdu presented a treat for all the writers and aficionados of literature out there. We bore witness to an evening where budding writers presented original short stories written in Hindustani.
Ten storytellers graced our space, and recited heart-wrenching stories; humorous and touching in their own regard.
With our own Dr. Mumtaz Peerbhoy and Mrs. Nasima Merchant leading the charge by hosting the event, the evening progressed smoothly. One after one, each writer performed their piece, and were subjected to appreciative applause, before the next took the stage.
Nidhi Bhandare presented “Maa Alwida”, while Kanchan Tripathi recited “Nani Ka Ghar”. Jitendra Maid told his piece, “Jitya”, where he spoke of the various names, and therefore personas he embodies, while Afroz Tikadar spoke of “The Bucket List”, a tale rife with longing.Shailija Bokil, Ruksana Jamadar and Vijaya Tecksingani followed with touching tellings, and our night drew to a satisfying close.
