CONVERSATIONS WITH ARTISTS: PANEL DISCUSSION – “PROCESS,REFORM & EXPERIMENTS in DANCE”

AVAYAVA – CONTEMPORARY DANCE FESTIVAL 2015

Organised by Swapnil’s Performing Arts & Contemporary Ensemble (SPACE) & moderated by Ushamrita Choudhary, this panel will discuss how they bring their vision to life. Choreography can be approached in different ways; through invention of something completely new OR through discovery or gradually uncovering of something that already exists; in humans, in objects or in nature. The panel will also discuss the reform that a choreographic process can bring through lenses of personal growth, aesthetic transformation at a young age, sensitisation & socio-political reform that dance can trigger. Lastly, we will also touch upon the topic of the radical to almost trial and error kind of experiments in Contemporary Dance exploration and abstraction.

The Panelists:

Tomas Danielis – Austria/Slovakia

Contemporary Performing Artist/Teacher Tomas Danielis studies at the Academy of Music and Drama Arts in Bratislava -SVK. He has also been the Art Director of Int. Buehnenwerstatt in the past and taught/performed across Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Turket etc.
Richard Causer – Australia/UK

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) from Queensland University Australia, Richard Causer has toured extensively through Australia and to China, South Korea and USA. He has worked with New York legend Penny Arcade and with the Balbir Singh Dance Company and Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company to name a few.
Aparna Nagesh – India

Graduate of the Broadway Dance Centre, NYC and artistic director of High Kicks – Chennai’s All Girls Dance Ensemble that recently performed at the Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Scotland, Miss Nagesh is a versatile dance professional, performer and art promoter.

Swapnil Dagliya – India

Graduate of the Broadway Dance Centre, NYC and Opus Ballet in Florence, Italy Swapnil runs the Space Studio in Pune and the Swapnil’s Performing Arts & Contemporary Ensemble that specialises in site-specific work along with performances and dance festivals. He is the creative director of AVAYAVA.

The panelists will be accompanied by teachers and performers at AVAYAVA 2015 – namely; Noam Eidelman, Carmelo Segura, Hazel Angus, Samantha Teo and other local artists.
