Addiction – An exhibition by Jitendra Thorat
Gyaan Adab invites you to young and upcoming artist Jitendra Thorat’s exhibition ‘Addiction’.
Addiction is a weakness, a craving, a fixation. In his exhibition, Jitendra has associated it with society’s attitudes, particularly in relation to women. The artist uses mixed media and creative application of tea bags in his work. The paintings attempt to convey the ruthlessness, violence and harassment of women in society without comment, judgment or conclusion.
About the Artist:
Jitendra Thorat has showcased his paintings at prestigious art galleries and exhibitions all over India like the Jehangir Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Academi, Triveni Gallery, Bombay Art Society, Camlin Art Foundation and All India Tilak Art Exhibition. The young artist has won several awards and accolades for his work – First Award, Prafulla Art Foundation 2015; All India National Exhibition Award 2014; Balsiddha Laxman Devarukhe Painting Cash Award 2014; Dev Bhumi International Cam. Shimla Award 2012. Jitendra graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (B.F.A) from Pune University and a Government Diploma in Drawing and Painting (G.D. Art). He is currently studying for his Masters of Fine Art (M.F.A.) at Pune University.
