Gyaan Adab launched ‘VEILS, HALOS & SHACKLES: International Poetry on the Oppression and Empowerment of Women’ here in an eventful evening at the Centre. The book is an anthology of more than 250 poems from writers across two dozen countries. It is edited by Charles Adès Fishman with Smita Sahay serving as Associate Editor.
The anthology was unveiled by Bina Sarkar Elias and Priya Sarukkai Chabria. The event featured readings from the book by Priya Sarukkai Chabria, Pervin Saket, Smita Sahay and Maujiza Babi.
ABOUT THE EDITORS
Charles Adès Fishman is an award-winning poet whose poems, essays, reviews, and translations have appeared in more than 350 journals. He is widely known for his brilliance as a teacher and editor, and for his powerful readings.Smita Sahay’s work has appeared in numerous magazines and journals, and has read her poetry at the Prakriti Poetry Festival in Chennai and Pen at Prithvi in Mumbai. She is a member of the founding team of Cappuccino Readings, a poetry reading initiative in Mumbai.
