Jism-e-sukhan, meaning the body of words was an enthralling and soul stirring evening which celebrated Urdu prose and poetry performed by the celebrated actor Naved Aslam, an Indian film, television and theatre actor and script writer.

When Naved came, he charmed his audience when he said his first ‘Adaab’ and this greeting was followed by many more enticing short prose and poetry in Urdu.

Urdu poetry consists of many stand alones apart from Ghazal, which are called ‘aashar’, the plural of ‘sher’. Naved first recited a few short stories and then he read out his own written pieces called ‘AASHAR’ , what enchanted the audience most was his style of narration , and his way of explaining and simplifying every word which people might not have understood. His works were inspired both by observation and imagination. Naved also quoted that ‘most of the writers write of what they have experienced and there are few who write about what they want to experience’. With this Gyaan Adab also launched ‘Jashn’, a series celebrating Urdu literature. This endeavour is part of Gyaan Adab’s commitment to the promotion of Urdu language and literature which seeks to bring together a common sharing through performances, discussions and creative interaction in a common spirit of appreciation.
