On The 10th of May Nandanik Sanstha in collaboration with Gyan Adab celebrated Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s 153rd Birth Anniversary. Members of Nandanik Sanstha began the program with a hymn written by the bard himself and went on to celebrate the multifaceted luminary by dwelling on the Master’s ‘Contribution in Indian and Global Art and literature”.
Among the highlights were excerpts of Satyajit Rays’ film on Rabindranath Tagore, discussions on Tagore the humanist, Tagore and women, Tagore’s interaction with Einstein and Gandhi; and a presentation on his paintings. The audience was given glimpses of Tagore’s music known as Rabindrsangeet and his unique style of dance which has popularly come to be known as Rabindra Nritya.
Present on the occasion was veteran Mr. Vinod Kothari, an expert on Tagore who spoke of his personal interaction with Gurudev. The program ended with Tagore’s well known exhortation to one an all … ‘Ekla Cholore.’
