Words Within Worlds

Gyaan Adab Centre presents an evening with U.S based poet Mukta Sambrani

“My interest in literature inspires my interest in creating opportunities in literacy which feeds my work in education. My students are the inheritors and interpreters of my work in education, just as my readers are the inheritors and interpreters of my work in the literary world. My two lives are one. My life is expressed in education and in writing at this time.”

Mukta will be reading published poems from two recent anthologies, some unpublished work exploring themes of gender and cultural identity from Broomrider’s book of the dead, a poem or two in Marathi and couple of iterative poems which explore the process of translation. Mukta will engage questions and comments from the audience to present poetry and prose around the themes of belonging and othering in linguistic, literary and cultural spheres.
