About the Author: William Styron (1925-2006), with his unique style of delving into the deep moral issues embedded in the historical events of his time, has earned both the highest acclaim and the severest criticism.

About the Novel: The ‘choice’ is the epicentre of the multi layered plot of this novel. The mystery of the plot is shrouded in layer upon layer of incidents of historical, psychological, social and geographical significance, peeled off gradually, gently and with great expertise as the story progresses. You will meet the unforgettable characters Nate, Stingo and  Sophie, a Roman Catholic from Poland who survives the horrors of Auschwitz, but is plagued by guilt.

About the Presenters: Anna Dragonette studied Sociology at Elphinstone College, Mumbai. Literature has always been her first love and she is currently nurturing this passion in young  persons through her online sessions with Encore, a Pune based Speech & Drama Studio.

Maria Julien is a Western Classical music aficionado. She will help us gain insights into the musical threads interwoven into the emotional roller coaster plot of Sophie's Choice.
