Performance Poetry by Aisling Fahey

Enjoy an hour long performance of Poetry by Aisling with an introduction to herself and her work as the Young Poet Laureate of London, describing what she has been doing and telling stories from the course of the last year and what she has learned. She will interact with the audiences where people can ask her about her work and creative process, representing young poets, how she engages with audiences and what has inspired her poetry.

ABOUT THE POET: Aisling Fahey was appointed as the Young Poet Laureate of London in October 2014 by Lemn Sissay on National Poetry Day in the UK. Acting as a voice for young Londoners, Aisling has completed residencies at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the Free Word Centre.

She is a Slambassadors Youth Champion and London Teenage Poetry Senior Slam Winner. She has performed to a wide range of audiences across the UK, from Glastonbury Festival to Tate Britain, Battersea Arts Centre and Royal Festival Hall. She was a member of the Barbican Young Poets. Aisling performed as part of the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square and was also the Walthamstow Mayor’s guest of Honour at the homecoming party for X Factor. She also wowed the audience at Boris Johnson’s London Means Business dinner.
