ISLAND WORLDS: A Photographic Exhibition by Pankaj Sekhsaria

This exhibition is as much a story, in images, of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, as it is a series of windows through which we look out at a world of mystery and charm that we know so little about. Washed by a rolling green and blue sea this fragile world is rich with startling lyricism. Ancient turtles nesting on desolate beaches, translucent jellyfish floating in warm tropical waters, giant rainforest trees holding up the heavens, whistling teals in the soft light of a reflected moon…turning away is a challenge as we are drawn into vibrantly beautiful island worlds. Specially reproduced on silk and framed elegantly, these images offer a new aesthetic experience.

Pankaj Sekhsaria grew up in Pune and has been working and researching in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the last two decades. He is a freelance journalist,  academic and author of The Last Wave – an island novel, a story based in the Andaman Islands. He has authored/edited three other, non-fiction books, two of which are based in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This is his 2nd photographic exhibition.

SINGING THE SEA
A New Concert by MYSTIC

Inspired by the exhibition ISLAND WORLDS, Mystic, India’s first poetry-music band, will evoke the spirit of the sea with guitarist Majid Aziz, flautist Deepak Bhanuse and poet-vocalist Randhir Khare. Exquisitely blending lyrical visuals, poetic chants, anecdotes and hauntingly beautiful music to create moods that capture the very essence of a water world.

The concert starts at 7pm, after the opening of the exhibition.
