FINAL DRAFT
Veteran playwright Girish Joshi’s Marathi play
translated into English by Jaideep Mujumdar
Produced by Maharashtra Cultural Centre and directed by Jaideep Mujumdar, Final Draft is a play that showcases the interactions and conversations between an unpredictable professor of script-writing and his shy student who is lagging behind in her coursework. In order to help her, the professor instructs her to write a story in the form of a special assignment.
What begins innocuously as a class on scriptwriting eventually culminates with self-realisation and important life lessons. The end leaves one with a flood of thoughts along with a smile. This is an intricately woven tale, with many underlying tones, originally written in Marathi by the veteran playwright Girish Joshi. The play has had an extremely successful run on the Marathi theatre circuit, both experimental and commercial.
