About the Poet
An Urdu, poet, script writer and chairman of Pakistan Academy of letters, Ahmad Faraaz (12th jan 1931-25th Aug 2008) is a poet whose work has stood the test of time.
He was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-pakistan for his contribution to poetry and Urdu literature.
He was known as a poet focusing on political satire, philosophy and romanticism. He is often compared to Mohammed Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz
Some of his famous Ghazals were Ranjish he sahi, Ab ke hum bichde…. Kaali dewaar, Doston ke naam, Mat Qatal karo Awazo ko and so on.
About the Program
Nasima Merchant and Ruksana Jamadar will present the works of Ahmed Faraaz by reciting the famous poems of the Author and giving background of his tremendous achievement in Urdu poetry.
