About the Artist

Priyanka Joshi

As a potter, she gravitated to the technique of coiling, an ancient method of hand rolling and layering clay to create shapes.

Using stoneware, a dense, impermeable and robust clay, she creates pieces that have fine, intricate, textural and sculptural quality to them.

Priyanka grew up in the Middle East before returning to India for her higher education. She graduated from Symbiosis with a B.Co degree and then studied ceramics under the guidance of Ms. Pratima and then under the late Mr. Ajit Vaidya of Ishalgad Studio. For further training she went to Andretta.

She worked as a pottery teacher for autistic adolescent children at Sense Kaliedoscope, Bangalore, participated in the Kala Ghoda Studio Potters’ Market, ‘Medley in Ceramics-6’ at the Renaissance Art Studio, and taught as a residential potter at Andretta Pottery.
