An Evening with the Book Club

On the 22nd of January, Gyaan Adab Centre hosted the newest edition of the Book Club, with Satish Khot and Gautam Idnani presenting Devil’s Advocate: The Untold Story by Karan Thapar.

Karan Thapar is an esteemed journalist and interviewer in the Indian subcontinent, and has become exceedingly popular due to his candid and eye-opening interviews with some of the biggest talents and politicians in the country. The book, Devil’s Advocate, chronicles some of his most popular interviews and the moments of his life that have led to some of his most cherished experiences. His autobiography unfolds like a good read, as if being presented as a work of fiction that contains some of the most surreal encounters you could imagine.

Mr. Khot stood in as the compere, while Mr. Idnani chose to embody Karan Thapar’s younger brother. Their amusing back and forth was a fresh way to handle an autobiography such as this, and helped the audiences really place themselves in the midst of events.

Their humorous repartee engaged the crowd to participate, and a deeper understanding of the psyche of the interviewer and the interviewee settled into the crowd.
