A Tale Dark And Grimm performed by The Storytellers

7th August 2016, Sunday

The Storytellers presented their new performance ‘A Tale Dark And Grimm’ here at the Centre. Based on the book of the same name by Adam Gidwitz, the programme attracted crowds in the dozens, leading to a jam-packed event yet a pin-drop silence was maintained throughout the two hours that the storytelling performance went on for.

In the words of the author, “It is the story of two children – a girl named Gretel and a boy named Hansel – travelling through a magical and terrifying world. It is the story of two children striving, failing, and then not failing. It is the story of two children finding out the meaning of things.”

Cast: Anita Dengale, Chetan Shetty, Tanvi Godbole, Darius Spencer, Sheetal Janhavi, Neilum Malgonkar, Devika Mendanha, Neeta Lalwani, Benedicte Le Bris, John Samson, Divya, Sunita Shetty, Nishika Desai, Mary Kurian D’Souza, Shrinivas Mudaliar, Azhar Tambuwala, Sahya Samson, Elaine Kochar.

The Storytellers are a Pune-based group whose initiative is to popularise and improve storytelling in order to reclaim a community space which our fast paced, electronic media based, busy lifestyle has all but obliterated. They work as a guild, where older and more experienced storytellers practice their storytelling alongside newcomers.
