Remembering Sahir Ludhianvi, the legendary poet-lyricist, in a specially curated evening which brings together the story of his life and an appreciation of his contribution to Indian cinema.
The programme will present a commentary enlivened by a multi-media presentation, featuring his compositions.
Sahir Ludhianvi
Sahir Ludhianvi (pen name of Abdul Hayee) was an Urdu poet and lyricist whose work greatly influenced Indian cinema, Bollywood films in particular. He brought depth and range to film lyrics and gave them a new dimension. Recipient of two Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri, Sahir remains a lyrical legend even to this day.
The Presenters
Mumtaz Peerbhoy, a renowned Urdu poetess and writer who has participated in many national and international mushairas and is famous for her melodious voice.
Nitu Bajwa, a Hindi and Urdu poetry enthusiast who loves reading about her favourite shayars.
Rashmi Sabale, passionate about Hindi and has done stints with AIR Varanasi.
