Music of the Dusk and the Dark

With the flavours of Benaras and Rajasthani folk

Gyaan Adab brings you an evening of classical & semi-classical music by Gowri Sundaresan & Pushpita Rath- alive with the flavours of Benaras and Rajasthani folk.

The programme will start with Gauri Sundaresan singing the popular evening Raga Yaman. This will be followed by a tarana in a fast-paced tempo and then some semi-classical pieces by Pushpita Rath in late evening & night ragas like Kirwani and Des followed by the popular Rajasthan folk Kesariya Balam in Raga Mand. The concluding piece will be in night raga Khamaj in a thumri style khayal, ending with Vaishanava Janato.

Together the duo will be performing with accompanying artistes Priya Ganguly (harmonium), Mehul Chaure (tabla) and Janardhan Iyer (violin).
About the singers

Pushpita Rath has been actively associated with Pune music circles for the past 15 years as a vocalist, compere, organizer and teacher of Hindustani classical music. She is also a graded artiste for Akashvani, Delhi, for Bhajan & Geet.

Gowri Sundaresan has given several performances. She is a student of Sri Suresh Patki and was awarded the ‘Sangeetha Visharad’ in Hindustani Classical Vocal music- which means “one who is accomplished in music”.
