Based on Richard Yates’ debut novel by the same name, Revolutionary Road depicts the story of a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s and their struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children.

Richard Yates shone bright upon the publication of this novel- which was nominated for the National Book Award in 1961. It drew unbridled praise and branded Yates an important, new writer. Renowned author Kurt Vonnegut claimed that Revolutionary Road was The Great Gatsby of his time.
