An Engineering Marvel Part 2 Upper Bhor Ghat

About the Program : 

This program is the second in series of 5 episodes on the idyllic Bhor Ghat section of the railways ( Mumbai Pune sector) that most of us have travelled but never really thought about. Apurva delves into the historical, technical and operational aspects of this vital railway section , sharing the problems and solutions that went into building this challenging track.

We cover the upper Bhor Ghat, through familiar landmarks – Lonavala, Khandala, Monkey Hill, etc. The episode will take us on a tour of the tracks and their features – many clearly visible and several out of sight.

About the Presenter :

Apurva Bahadur is an ardent railway enthusiast and shutterbug who spends a great deal of time and effort studying and photographing railway sections and trains.

Apurva has extensively researched the Bhor Ghat railway, one of the most difficult railway sections anywhere in the world, which was initiated in 1856 and continuously improved over the last century… especially in the 50s and 80s.

He will treat us to the views, Maps and anecdotal informaton about this section of the magical Bhor Ghat railway line.
