The Life and Works of Thelonious Monk

This session will feature a presentation on the life and times of Thelonious Monk by T M Hosangady will be followed by a live performance on Monk’s compositions by the Aubrey Dias quartet.

Monk is considered a genius of modern music. His creative work spanned the period from the early 50s to the 70s. Considered quirky in his time, his playing style featured dissonances and angular melodic twists His compositions were consistent with his unorthodox approach to the piano.

The audio-visual presentation and discussion coupled with a live performance on Monk’s compositions will guarantee this to be an engaging session.
