SUMMARY:Patanjali's Journeys
DESCRIPTION:Gyaan Adab invites you to experience an artist’s view of life and nature in the paintings of Patanjali Thakkar. \nIn pen\, ink and charcoal with streaks of acrylics or watercolors\, textured depictions in oil colors and even tea\, these paintings are a personal interpretation of Patanjali’s understanding of life’s journey. \n  \nAbout the artist\n \nGrowing up painting cards for family and friends since the age of 4\, Patanjali Thakkar believes painting is like meditation. In the sense that art simply represents the state that the mind takes. “It is very much the artist’s mind\, hanging on the wall out there!” she quips. Artists like Nalini Malini\, Amrita Shergil\, Monet and Van Gogh inspire her to bring out interesting aspects of the most mundane things in life. \nInauguration of exhibition: 5 pm\, 4th September. \nENTRY FREE

SUMMARY:Elvis sings the blues
DESCRIPTION:Gyaan Adab invites you to listen to an evening of recorded music to remember the King of Rock and Roll! \nWhile Elvis is famous for his Rock n Roll and soft romantic ballads\, he sang a lot of blues\, in the studio\, rehearsals\, and also at home. He was deeply influenced by the blues\, right from his childhood in Tupelo\, Mississippi and in fact\, the first commercial song he ever recorded in Memphis\, was the blues song “That’s All Right (Mamma)”. He recorded many blues songs throughout his career and we feature a few of these numbers\, which are comparatively unknown\, including some rare versions available only on the special collectors label FTD/ SONY and other sources. \nOperating out of Pune and Mumbai\, the official Elvis Presley Fan Club of India (EPFC) was founded informally in the early 60s’. Over the years\, the club has organised several concerts and shows. The Club meets informally at least four times a year and also on special request. Those interested can contact us to set up private music or movie session.
