SUMMARY:MINDSCAPES - People\, Pictures and Circumstance
DESCRIPTION:“Copper is such a rich metal\, in its raw state it speaks to me\, the artist. Hold a sheet over a flame and ghostly images of earth colours\, red\, blue\, green and purple spread over the sheet\, a beautiful patina buried in its molecules from the day it was conceived in the rocky womb of the earth. I have a passion for this metal. I love to beat and mould\, emboss\, paint and wax it\, then pass the palm of my hand over it to feel the contours of its soul. \nAs a child\, my grandfather\, James Peters\, who lived in the forests of Burhanpur\, in a red brick and wooden house\, told me stories. He was a fantastic storyteller. One might not think it is important to be a storyteller\, but to a child it is everything. My mother would scoff and comment\, ‘There you go James\, spinning one of your yarns. My children will grow up believing the unbelievable.’ And we did. \nDo dragons fly? Twins of the Dragonbird\, I have titled my favourite copper panel. A zebra striped horse in a room\, watched by an intruder. The Dragonbird dancer dances to Grandpa’s tune. He loved to polka to his winding gramophone. A panther slept beneath his dining table and wolves and hyenas howled outside his front door\, while his favourite Brahmani bull was coloured blue for a puja. This inspired Blue Bull bearing a wounded woman\, and the deer that nibbled his custard apple hedge. Fantastic creatures and barely real people inspired his stories\, and my copper pictures.” \n– Ann Delorme \nGYAAN ADAB INVITES YOU TO AN EXHIBITION OF ANN DELORME’S EXTRAORDINARY WORKS IN COPPER WITH PATINA\, ENAMEL AND METALLIC PAINTS. \nMuch of Ann’s copper work is inspired by Hungarian painter and sculptor Blaise\, from whom she has learnt various techniques in patina and enamelling. She has had a show with him in the Hungarian Cultural Centre\, Delhi in 2007\, shortly after having a show of her copper panels in the Birla Art Gallery\, Mumbai in 2007. In 2007she entered the 3rd International Enamel Triennale of Budafok in Hungary. She has submitted my enamel on copper works to the Reliance Harmony Show in 2007 and Mrs. Tina Ambani owns two of her enamel on copper works.\nAnn periodically put up shows of her sculptures and paintings. \nThe exhibition will be in till February 13\, 2015 \nTime: 10 am – 6.30 pm

SUMMARY:A DRAMATIC EVENING OF WORDS & MUSIC
DESCRIPTION:Bringing alive Randhir Khare’s new novel STRANGERS ON THE SHORE \nThe programme features the voices of Saurabh Dalmiya\, Priyanka Menon\, Sumedh Sarojini and Neeti Pherwani who enthrall with their thespian skills\, playing intriguing and hilarious characters shaded with dark humour\, whilst the mood of the evening and the novel is set by the gifted musical trio consisting of Sandhya D’mello (vocals)\, Aubrey Dias (keyboards) and Sunil Rodgers (clarinet/sax/flute). \nThe Novel\nThe tender\, quaintly amusing and hysterical lives of ordinary people who experience the extraordinary in their everyday lives. Their paths cross and re-cross\, dramatically negotiating each other and the myriad lives who touch them\, weaving an intensely emotional and psychological story about people who find themselves and lose themselves in an effort to discover who they really are. \nThe Author\nRandhir Khare\, renowned poet\, writer and folklorist deftly lays bare the average Indian’s obsession with life-long family ties and the tendency to blame parents for any failure that visits his or her life. His robust and compelling fictional narrative is expressed through brilliantly created voices that touch chords deep within.

SUMMARY:Sarir-e-Khamma
DESCRIPTION:The scratching Sound of a Pen \nGyaan Adab invites you to ‘Sarir-e-Khamma’\, an acoustic interactive musical session presented by Highway 61\, where emphasis is on lyrics\, poetry and stories of the songs.\nThoughts become Words and express the need to become eternal on paper.\nWe all write: either as compulsion or passion.\nWe all read what is written but have we tried to hear it? \nThe sound made by that little nib as it meets the sheet of paper tells you more than the words it creates. When the pen screeches fast and loud the words written are sure to create an altercation when read. Soothing silky sound instead\, will nurture an expression soon. The pausing sound of a stopping pen belongs to an intense writer just as the silent sound to the enlightened soul.\nThis sound of a pen signs treaties in one era and recreates the history for another era to read. And to reach as many ears as it can these words merge into the art of melody/music to create sarir-e-khamma. \n \nHighway 61 is a “Sufi Ethnic” music group based in Pune. The band has been creating and performing music since 2008. Their music embodies “Music\, Expression\, Freedom” – a fusion of classic rock with Urdu/Kashmiri lyrics.\nThe band has earned immense recognition since their the first performance at Shanivarwada (Pune) in 2009\, after which they went on to win 10 national rock band competitions.  Highway 61 was featured on NDTV Prime time as a part of their feature “Masters of world music” on 3rd Dec 2014. On the same day Highway 61 shared the stage with international artist Viuex Farka Toure. The band recently finished recording an OST\, ‘Sahibo’ for a film titled 19th January based on Kashmir.\nThe band is currently recording their debut album titled ‘Alif’
