SUMMARY:Opening of 'Amble - A series of ink drawing on paper'
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the Unrehearsed Moments in Image Making \n \nAmble is a series of abstract drawings in ink on paper. The artist\, Ishita Dharap\, attempts to capture the lucidity of the moment an image is conceived. The spontaneity of creation is driven by a restless\, volatile energy. To hold it still and recreate the aesthetic decision is the challenge she celebrates as an image-maker. \nIshita Dharap: \n\nIshita Dharap studied interdisciplinary design at the Srishti School of Art\, Design and Technology\, Bangalore and graduated with a Diploma in Art and Design in 2012. Since then\, she has been drawing\, painting and freelancing in graphic design and illustration. She has had one dual show with her mother\, artist Sujata Dharap\, titled ‘Mother-Daughter I’\, earlier this year.\nIshita has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Drawing has always been her way of responding and reacting to the things happening around her. She is most at ease with ink on paper and so it was through this medium that she chose to explore and experience the nuances of how she creates her images. \nThe highlight of the opening will be a thought provoking discussion between artists of two generations – Sujata and Ishita Dharap. \nEntry Free \nThe exhibition will be on till Thursday\, December 11th\, 2014\nTime: 10 am to 6:30 pm \nFor more details call us on: 020-65217333

SUMMARY:Empty Café
DESCRIPTION:Indian Classical meets Blues-Jazz \nEmpty Café is a Fusion-Funk band and draws heavily from Indian Classical and blues-jazz. Empty Café as a band has been striving to create a new image for ‘fusion music’\, which is very different from the sound that most people associate with it. They believe in actually fusing two genres and instruments together rather than just sticking them onto each other superficially. \nEmpty Café’s EP titled ‘whatever its called’ that was released early 2013 was on #4 on NH7 radio charts on the week of their launch. Tracks off their album were also aired on Los Angeles based radio ‘The Uprising’ KPFK 90.7 FM LA. They performed at the revival of the BandStand Culture in April 2013 to a highly delighted and enthusiastic crowd.\nBeing one of the most promising acts around\, Empty Café tends to blow away audiences with their unique sound and deep know how of two completely varied genres. \n  \n \nGandhaar Amin: Gandhaar\, a flautist born in a musically inclined family has been learning Indian Classical music since he was 5 years old from his father\, Nitin Amin\, who is a professional musician. He has also been learning from the acclaimed Indian Classical vocalist Padma Talwalkar for the past few years. He recently was a part of the team that worked on a Tamil song\, composed by the noted percussionist Sivamani. Gandhar is a flautist and composer with Empty Café. \nVinay Kaushal: Vinay is a composer\, guitar player and music educator. A graduate of Musician’s Institute\, Hollywood\, home to the prestigious GIT in Los Angeles\, Vinay’s playing boasts uniqueness and stylistic versatility. Vinay has a keen interest in teaching and has been doing the same since 2009. He currently teaches at the Furtado’s School of Music. He is the composer\, guitar player and producer of the band. \nDonation Pass: 200/-\nKindly pick up your passes between 10 am to 6.30 pm. \nFor further information call 020-40027880

SUMMARY:Mi…Ghalib
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of Mirza Ghalib’s birth anniversary\, Gyaan Adab presents Mi…Ghalib\, a play that traces the journey of a young playwright who attempts to portray the life of Mirza Ghalib in his words. The great poet guides him on a spiritual journey full of verses\, intoxication and conflict that seems to intertwine with the writer`s own. This play showcases a mixture of\, inspirations for writing the play\, Ghalib’s life\, his poems\, his confusions in life\, the defeats faced by Ghalib and the writer and most of the pilgrims on the spiritual path\, the art forms emerging from these frustrations and the same art forms posing as a distraction from the spiritual path\, and the desolation faced as a result of all this. The writer and Ghalib seem distinct at times\, at times co-travellers and at times united.\nLanguage: Hindi/ Urdu/ Marathi\nProduced by: Natak Company\, Pune\nWriter: Om Bhutkar\nDirector: Aalok Rajwade\nMusic compositions: Saaket Kanetkar and Jaydeep Vaidya \nDonation pass: 150/-
