An evening at Gyaan Adab that will be remembered by all

Considered the first prominent woman Punjabi poet, novelist, and essayist, and the leading 20th-century poet of the Punjabi language Amrita Pritam, with a career spanning over six decades produced over 100 books, of poetry, fiction, biographies, essays, a collection of Punjabi folk songs and an autobiography that were translated into several Indian and foreign languages.  in 1956, she became the first woman to win the Sahitya Akademi Award for her magnum opus, a long poem, Sunehe (Messages),later she received the Bharatiya Jnanpith, one of India's highest literary awards, in 1982 for Kagaz Te Canvas (The Paper and the Canvas). The Padma Shri came her way in 1969 and finally, Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, in 2004, and in the same year she was honoured with India's highest literary award, given by the Sahitya Akademi (India's Academy of Letters), the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship given to the "Immortals of Literature" for lifetime achievement.
On the occasion of the celebrated author’s ninth death anniversary Gyaan Adab payed tribute her author through ‘Zara Amritacha’, a collage of poems, letters and the amazing life of the writer and poet. Amrita’s life was like a passionate love song and her poetry reflected her free and fearless spirit. There were three loves of Amrita’s life- literature, Sahir Ludhiyanvi and Imroze. She loved all three till her last breath. This program captured the beautiful journey of her life in a bi lingual reading (Marathi and Hindi) of her poems, letters and some poems of Sahir and Imroze. The audience remained captivated till the very end and was immersed in the heartfelt story of Amrita, Shahir and Imroz.
The readings were presented by Dr. Amit tribhuvan, Vinita Gundecha, Shruti Vishvkarma and Geetanjali Joshi who had also written the script.
